Last night we spent a lovely hour or so just crafting, everybody just doing their own thing, and offering encouragement and admiration along the way. MIss M had mentioned wanting to bring in small holiday gifts for her classmates next week, so I made these funky glass magnets.
This one is so easy, it's ridiculous.
- I cut out small green triangles -- the trees.
- Punched a bunch of holes in several sheets of colorful paper (including some gold!) -- the ornaments.
- Glued my ornaments to the trees.
- Glued the decorated trees to a sheet of bright orange paper leaving enough room between each to let me glue on a glass bauble from the local craft store. I found them in the fake flower section.
- (I use craft glue here, which completely obscures my image, but it dries completely clear)
- I left them to dry over night.
- Today I cut out my gems with curved nail scissors, cutting as close to the glass as I could.
- Finally, I hot-glued magnets to the back. I use the hot glue gun at this point because I've found sometimes the glue won't dry properly the second time, leaving me with soggy looking pictures -- not the look I'm looking for.
This is one of my favorite little projects because my original images always look better magnified behind the baubles. That, and because I love a bit of sparkle :-)
{note to self: learn more about photography... those magnets are way cuter in real life}
