I love these candle holders that the kids have made at school and at craft faires. They are so simple to make and give the kids such a sense of control and pride over their work.
All you need to make your own is some colorful tissue paper, a bit of craft glue and a paint brush. I like to add a bit of water to the glue to make it easier to paint on. Just chose a clear glass container (in this case a baby-food jar and a simple votive holder), paint on a thin layer of glue on the outside of your container, and place your strips of paper as you like them. For older kids you can get fancy and cut and glue specific designs or use punch cutters.
The last step is to gently paint over a final layer of glue when you are done to make sure you don't have any loose bits. Leave it to dry a few hours and then light a votive inside. Lovely!
